So as the world economy goes into a doom and gloom a lot of companies are thinking about not doing anythign in terms of advertising and promotion. This is a smart decision for certain mediums. I mean I don't really blame them. For one thing, why would you still want to advertise in a medium that has no customers, (e hem... Yellow Pages). This is a smart decision on any businesses agenda. That is a very short meeting. "Should we waste more money this year in the Yellow Pages or should we take that money and do something that will last for a longer term"?
Longer term being investing in your website. Making more than an online business card and instead investing the money in an online money making machine. Regardless of wheather we are in a recession or not you can't forget to invest in your business if you want to grow or in these times stay afloat.
Now is the time as well to be online advertising and getting better rankings. Reason being, your competition is doing everything they can to save money and not investing in their business. Right now is a great chance to get your rankings better, get the clicks through Pay Per Click and get those clients converting.
Once your competition comes around to figuring out this internet thingy you will be light years ahead of them with all of their would be clients boasting about how much they love your service or product.
So to answer the question is SEO important in this economy, yes more than ever. We are in a changing time and starting to realize that the web is more than myspace and amazon.
